Friday the 13th.....

So just 2 days ago I discovered the true meaning of Friday the 13th. Normally I don't believe in bad luck coming with Friday the 13th but this time around was a little different. Anyone who was at the conference in Thurles will know that my car decided to pack up early on Friday morning. Well the clutch went while I was on a roundabout....not fun let me assure you. So the days subbing I was en route to was suddenly off the cards as my new plan for the day was now how was I going to get home from the middle of nowhere and still get to Thurles?? Thankfully while I was stuck on the roundabout, a lovely man from Laois county council spotted me and towed me to his office in Port Laois (where I was stuck, just to make life more complicated of course!) Makes me glad that I paid extra on insurance for road side assistance and my Penny Lane was back on top of a tow truck. I'm starting to think she just enjoys being towed places.
So now my car was heading back towards home to a mechanic and I had to get to thurles...ALL ABOARD!! Choo choo! I can't remember the last time I was on a train but I really enjoyed it! It was kinda nice to sit back with my book and just enjoy the ride, lovely and quiet journey. On arrival I went to the hotel, not the best one in the world but was ok for what it was. I was only there for a few hours sleep really. I went to Tipp IT to give Pam a hand with some odd jobs around ready for the conference! I packed the goody bags and made some easels to display the Twitter Project Artwork on. I'm a busy little bee once I get going!

Friday night was much better however. It was the CESI meet!! Something I'd been looking forward to for ages. Mags (of CESI fame) sure knows how to throw a great night. We learnt loads, met lots of new people and got to try out some new Apps thanks to some very wise people! As any good Friday night should be we somehow (?) ended up back in the hotel bar....there were a large group of us from the CESI meet staying in the one hotel so we gathered in the bar there to continue the CESI chat! During the meet we'd been asked to try a TWUIZ, which basically means a quiz on twitter. Great says I! I'll just download the QR Reader app to (since the questions asked meant we needed the reader) and off I go. I got the answers wrote them all down and was ready to hear if I won...Silly Hellie somehow forgot the twitter part of the twuiz and didn't tweet the answers until I was reminded to! Still I got there just in time and although I didn't come 1st I did get 2nd place!! I came away beaming with a lovely pink mouse! And a round of applause and giggles!

It was late when I got to bed and considering how early it was when I had gotten up and left the house I was shattered....After much consideration and indecision from myself I finally picked out my outfit and was able to fall into bed after a quick chat to my Gavin. It was a sleep I well needed and enjoyed so much so that I don't have words to describe it!

Wise words today? Beware of Friday the 13th, it took my car and it won't be long coming back again!

  1. Hellie you are a breath of fresh air and, in the true spirit of the Tipperary conference, a great storyteller. with your energy and joie de vivre, sure you don't really need a car...

  2. Awwww Mags I'm blushing thank you! Your comment means a lot to me! However I dispute one point...I do need my Penny Lane car, discovered it's very hard to do big weekly shop without car when nowhere close enough to walk to, or even deliver it! I'm now very hungry Mags!

Glad you enjoyed the post, wait til tomorrow for part2 and the joys of Saturdays conference!!
