Fantasy Classroom-The Library

As a teacher who's still looking for a class to call her own I have many ideas of what kind of classroom I'd like and I'm going to share with you. Cause I'm nice that way see?
I've always dreamed about having a classroom with a proper library corner in it. I was lucky enough when I was in still in UCC to spend a day with a young teacher in my old primary school who had a fantastic library corner on which I've based my ideal library. I want a bookcase, not the old fashioned stereotypical school bookcase but a proper fancy one. Filled with all sorts of books from The Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Malory Towers, Swallows and Amazons, Top Gear, Anne of Green Gables, Miley Cyrus and anything else the cool kids read. Or want to read. I don't mind what kind of books are there once they are books children want to read and will enjoy, a huge variety of literature, a wide selection of factual books about pop stars, football heroes and historical events. I'm not picky what is read once my class read something that they enjoy.

Of course having a bookcase full of books is one thing, having a nice place to read is another. I don't know about you but I love having a nice comfy, cozy corner to read, to fly away to a whole new world and escape into adventure. When I was in school I loved reading but always found it really hard to do that while stuck at a desk sat on a hard uncomfortable chair, truth be told I still do. I love curling up on the sofa with cushions and a blanket to read, somewhere comfy. I want that in my classroom. Somewhere where the children in my class look forward to going to experience reading and adventure. A few beanbags, cushions softer chairs and the library corner is almost perfect.

Proper lighting is a must here too, no point trying to read in the dark. I find the window to be too distracting and I'm sure all kids enjoy looking out the window as much as I do. I'd put a blind on the window to keep the distractions out and put some small lamps around the corner, some fairy lights on the walls to make the whole place more homely, cozy and inviting. My idea of perfect reading conditions! My dream library corner both at home and in school-a place where kids should feel comfortable and I think a library like this one is a fairly good start to my dream classroom.

Wise words today? Make the classroom and library as comfortable as possible, they should be somewhere enjoyable to be for pupil and teacher alike.

Why don't we save time and you just tell me what I want?
