About Me

I'm Helen aka Hellie. I run Anseo A Mhuinteoir. I'm a qualified primary teacher always on the look out for a job. Meanwhile I'm subbing as often as I possibly can.
I set up this blog on Valentines Day 2009, the day I went to Maynooth for my induction day to Hibernia College. Throughout this blog I've documented my experiences as a student teacher, life in Hibernia, Teaching practice, my exams and life as a sub. I try to include as many lessons I've used in classes as I can as well as anything else education related.

I'm an executive member of CESI (Computers in Education Society of Ireland) I love ICT and technology in the classroom! I love my iPad and apps,  and love to encourage other teachers to use them too!

I'm involved with Discover Primary Science and Maths as a trainer and tutor in all things science. I love space and secretly wish I could be an astronaut! Since (for now) that's not possible I'm just going to continue to make rockets in the classroom.

Over the last two years I've been working on How I Learn, a crowd sourced book about learning styles, you can read more about it here I'm extremely proud of How I Learn and hope you support it so we can continue to help Barnardos

I love getting comments and hearing your opinions so if you have anything to add you can comment under any post, email me at anseoblog@gmail.com or tweet me @AnseoAMuinteoir

  1. Hey Helen :)

Totally just stumbled across this blog :) I'm currently studying with Hibernia...first TP in 3 weeks so this blog will be great no doubt :)

Off to teach some junior infants and first class tomorrow in my old local primary school (1 teacher school so they need all the help they can get). It'll be my first time with this grouping so hopefully will be fun :)

    Gráinne :)
